The applicant for the Economics program must show interest in understanding the different economic and social problems that society faces and how its various actors act, as well as a desire to propose solutions to these. Additionally, they must possess analytical, logical, and mathematical abilities.

The Economist has the ability to face the demands of economic and social reality in a globalized world, thus being able to work as a consultant, advisor, manager, director, planner, analyst, evaluator, formulator, teacher, and researcher within public and private organizations and institutions, governmental and non-governmental bodies, associations, financial entities, multilateral organizations, and their own company; at a local, regional, national, and international level.

Program Objective
The program objectives are:
○ To train comprehensive economists through the application of critical analysis theories and methodologies and research that allow them to interpret and understand the socioeconomic problems of the country and society, in order to propose and execute solutions through the different processes developed in the disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary program, promoting sustainable development in a globalized world.
Specific objectives:
○ To train economists with the ability to understand economic principles, theories, and policies, along with various quantitative tools that allow for the articulation of theoretical foundations with their practical application, enabling the analysis, understanding, and solution of different social problems resulting from the relationships derived from production, distribution, accumulation, and exchange processes at local, regional, national, and international levels.
○ To develop the capacity for abstraction to study real phenomena from their professional and ethical perspective within the disciplinary field of economics.
○ To develop the capacity to appreciate the economic dimension in broad political, social, and environmental issues.
○ To train economists who explore, manage, use, and interpret statistical information associated with economic problems.
○ To foster the development of critical and analytical thinking, with the capacity for synthesis, expression, and communication.
